$0.00 Osteoarthritis (OA) is the most common joint disorder in the United States. The aging population and obesity epidemic will likely increase the number of people affected with symptomatic OA. As the population ages and the prevalence of OA continues to rise, clinicians find themselves struggling to manage pain and restore function associated with these conditions. This case-based activity goes beyond first line treatment to discuss various pharmacological options available, emerging treatment options and criteria to help individualize care.

$0.00 Patients with chronic low back pain (CLBP) constitute about 5% of all patients with back pain and account for over 75% of the cost of low back pain management. The economic impact of chronic low back pain stems from prolonged loss of function, resulting in loss of work productivity, treatment costs, and disability payments. Estimates of these costs range from $12.2 to $90.6 billion annually. Most primary care clinicians can expect to see at least one patient with low back pain per week. Maximizing Treatment Options in Patients with Chronic Low Back Pain is a case-based activity describing current guidelines and providing options and tips for individualizing care of your patients with CLBP to improve their quality of life. Medicinal cannabis will be discussed and helpful tools and resources to support the appropriate care of patients with CLBP provided.

$0.00 Reproductive health is an important element of the full-spectrum of family medicine and primary care.  The current health care environment in the US has created fear and anxiety for patients and their physicians, prompted by uncertainty about availability of services, coverage for care and access to physicians.  Education and training that build solutions for reproductive health care help to alleviate some of that uncertainty.   This tool assists you in reflecting on your current practices, skills and knowledge related to reproductive health. You will be queried about present and desired skill levels with each of the eight competencies and then asked 2-3 questions that illustrate your skill/knowledge.  Each section of the tool includes the rationale for answers and the reference citation.  You will also be able to see your own assessment scores and where you rank among colleagues; your CME certificate will be available at the end of the course. To learn more about the CME credit or the Conversations initiative go to www.familydocs.org/rhi.
