Dermoscopy has an evidence base supporting its use in primary care for skin cancer detection, but need for training has been cited as a key barrier to its use. Please join us as faculty provides learners with information, illustrations, tips and tricks about how to recognize dermoscopic criteria for various issues seen frequently in Family Physician offices.

George Kent, MD, completed his medical degree at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine. He served his residency in family medicine at Community Hospital of Sonoma County in Santa Rosa, and also completed a preventive medicine residency at the Centers for Disease Control, where he served as a medical epidemiologist. Dr. Kent is a faculty physician with the Stanford-affiliated San Jose-O’Connor Family Medicine Residency Program, and is Clinical Professor at Stanford School of Medicine, Department of Medicine, Div. of Primary Care & Population Health. He practices full-scope family medicine, including OB, and is also a specialist in HIV Medicine. He has been active in medical education at the local, state, and national level throughout his 30-year career in family medicine. He also volunteers for international projects to provide medical care and to train health professionals in Latin America and Africa. Dr. Kent is a long-time member of CAFP and is a recipient of the CAFP Foundation's Barbara Harris Award for Educational Excellence.
