The goal of this session is to review the various reasons to choose a specific antihypertensive given a patient’s demographics and comorbidities. We will also discuss how best to take an in-office blood pressure and the goal blood pressure.

Mark Dressner, MD is currently working with Kaiser Permanente in Long Beach, California after six years as a staff physician in the adult section of The Children’s Clinic, a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC), also located in Long Beach. Dr. Dressner graduated from the Sackler School of Medicine at Tel Aviv University. He completed his residency at the University of Cincinnati. He also holds a Master’s Degree in Education from the University of Southern California.
Formerly he worked for 15 years in residency education, winning several awards for teaching. He has been on 14 medical brigades to Honduras and two to Brazil. Dr. Dressner is a past president of the California Academy of Family Physicians (CAFP). He served for three years as editor of California Family Physician magazine. He is an investor in the current hit Broadway musical The Prom and is hoping to be in attendance at this year’s Tony Awards ceremony.

AAFP Prescribed credit is accepted by the American Medical Association as equivalent to AMA PRA Category 1 credit™ toward the AMA Physician’s Recognition Award. When applying for the AMA PRA, Prescribed credit earned must be reported as Prescribed, not as Category 1.
